Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation representatives attend a meeting in Semnan with the head of Department of Environment

In the afternoon of Monday November 11th 2013, the managing director and a group of experts from the Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation attended a meeting organized by the Semnan province office of the Department of Environment to let civil society representatives from around the province meet Dr. Ebtekar, the head of the DoE, who was on an official visit to the province.

In this meeting that was chaired by Mr. Zohrabi, the General Manager of Semnan DoE office, Dr. Ebtekar and Mr. Vakili, the honorable Governor of Semnan province, along with some provincial officials were present. The PWHF was invited to this meeting because of its conservation contribution-related efforts in protected areas of Semnan province in the past, especially for the close association with the Conservation of Asiatic Cheetah project (CACP) in Touran Biosphere Reserve.

In this meeting various civil society organizations such as environmental NGOs, academia, and representatives of the industry spoke and expressed their views and grievance. The positive attitude of the general manager of Semnan DoE and the honorable governor of the Semnan province toward civil society groups and the strong emphasis the head of the DoE had on facilitating and expanding relation between government agencies and the NGOs ushers a new page in more connected cooperation between all concerned groups in conservation.

PWHF hopes to carry on its conservation activities in Semnan province in cooperation with other NGOs and continued support of the provincial authorities.
