Bijan Farhang Dareshouri’s spoke at “Parviz Tanavoli and the Lions of Iran” Exhibition

Bijan Farhang Dareshouri’s speech at “Parviz Tanavoli and the Lions of Iran” Exhibition was welcomed by a large number of experts and enthusiasts. This ceremony took place on Monday July 25th at 5pm at Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art.

Bijan Farhang Dareshouri was born in the Dareshouri Family of Qashqai Tribe and spent his childhood in seasonal migrations. In his speech, “Persian lion, Arjan Plain and Qashqai Tribe”, he talked about the climatic wonders of the Iranian Plateau and Iran’s mammals and plants, based on his personal experiences. He also gave us a brief background on the Qashqai Tribe, and narrated some of the encounters of the tribe with the Persian lion.

“Winter at the Crossroads” was screened after Mr. Dareshouri’s speech. This 25 minutes-long documentary was directed by Colin Willock, a British filmmaker, in 1978, on Iran’s wildlife and their wintering. At the time, Bijan Farhang Dareshouri was the expert who accompanied the filmmaking team. He told us about his experience while making this documentary after the screening.

Prominent Iranian wildlife experts were also present at this event: Bahram Zehzad, Houshang Ziaee and some experts from the Department of Environment.

During this exhibition, Mondays have been designated as event days at Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art. Two more events will be organized by the Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation on August 14th and 21st. Respectfully, Kaveh Faizollahi will speak about “The lions of Iran” and Houman Jowkar about “Conservation of big cats in Iran.”
